Our Services

Nightjar Training & Consulting is a Field Guides Association of Southern Africa (FGASA) accredited specialist delivery partner with an in-house Assessor. 


All training can be done on the lodge / reserve premises with existing equipment/vehicles – ensuring efficiency and on-the-job learning in a discreet and professional manner. Training can be done once-off, or on a periodic basis.

FGASA Exam & Assessment Preparation

Self-study assistance in person, or via any online platform (such as ZOOM). 


One-on-one FGASA exam preparation & theory assistance for self-study students via Zoom (or any suitable online platform), at an hourly rate. All that is required is a laptop and a stable internet connection. 


Sessions are tailored to the learner's requirements, i.e, on the subject or module that the learner is having difficulty understanding. 


Training is conducted by a qualified FGASA assessor & FGASA endorsed delivery partner. 


Sessions can be recorded and sent to the learner as a recap. 

On Site Trails Guide & ARH Mentorships

Fully customized, one-on-one or group Trails Guide & ARH mentorships, with the aim of gaining hours & encounters towards further qualifications, as well as addressing practical shortfalls. 

Freelance Guiding & Private Safaris

We also offer privately guided safaris!

Top level, experienced & qualified FGASA Specialist SKS Guide with own rifle available on a freelance basis. Spoil your guests with the best of the best!




Lowveld Birding Trips

Our tailored Lowveld birding trips are designed to help you find those elusive species you've been looking for, whilst enjoying our regional specials as well. Full day & extended birding focused trips can be arranged. Fully guided or hop-on service available. 



Hotspot areas include Mariepskop State Forest, Blyde River Canyon, Kruger National Park, Magoebaskloof etc 



On-Site Guide and Guiding Team Training & Upskilling

  • Head Guide Training – specifically aimed at newly promoted Head or Senior Guides, assisting with staff management and company systems
  • General Knowledge refreshers & workshops
  • “Secret Shopper” experience – giving expert advice on areas to improve and assisting with facilitation of these improvements through training & workshops
  • Guest Relations Skills – Including dealing with difficult guests, children and VIP Guests
  • On-going rifle refresher training – Ensuring the guiding teams rifle handling skills are kept sharp and safe
  • Game drive etiquette – including approaching game and dangerous animals & ethical guiding
  • Legal Requirements– ensuring the guiding team are legally compliant 
  • Photographic skills – to ensure guiding teams are providing lodges with good quality content for social media 
  • 4 x 4 Training & Courses (TETA Recognized) – with a qualified and registered 4×4 facilitator: ensuring maximum comfort and guest safety. Courses vary from one day workshops to three days of intensive 4×4 certified courses. Different options are available, so please contact us for a package which best suits your needs.
  • Hospitality training & consulting services - including Front of House & Back of House training, HR & administrative assistance & support, Vegan F&B training etc
